Happy Âphivoat - English Trailer

In the Cambodian countryside, farmers mow by hand under the sun. In the rice field next door, two combine harvesters do the same in just a few minutes, separating the grain from the stalks as village children look on.
On the long country road under construction, trucks carrying sacks of rice pass trucks carrying female workers. In a factory on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, a female worker sews straps on an assembly line. Around her, thousands of workers are drilling, cutting and assembling to the rhythm of the machines.
In Phnom Penh, in the shadow of high-rise buildings and billboards, textile workers led by a trade unionist demonstrate, marching past deserted luxury furniture store windows.
By filming the traces of Cambodia's metamorphosis and recording the words of workers who bear witness to their working conditions, Happy Âphivoat echoes a global history of social struggle.
